April 2016 - The Heart of England Forest

A record breaking planting season – thanks to you!

As we bask in the glorious spring sunshine, it seems the perfect time to reflect on our amazing planting season before another is upon us.

It has indeed been an extraordinary season, and with both your help and that of our hundreds of volunteers, we have exceeded our target.

The kestrel – at home in your forest

There are few more thrilling sights than watching a majestic kestrel hovering above woods or grassland, waiting for the perfect moment to swoop on some unsuspecting prey below. At the Heart of England Forest, we are always mindful of trying to ensure that we maintain an attractive habitat for this handsome bird and many others like it.

A stroll in the bluebell woods

Nothing says spring like the magnificent sight of bluebells carpeting the woodland floor. Their lifespan is short, though, so you need to enjoy them while you can, and that is where we can help!

For one day only, the Heart of England Forest is throwing open the gates of a rarely seen piece of woodland to bluebell lovers.
