We are very sad to have received reports in recent weeks of sheep worrying in and around the Heart of England Forest. We love the fact that people enjoy visiting the Forest, and we welcome dogs and their responsible owners.
All dog walkers should be aware that we and many of our neighbours have sheep in their fields and most sheep are in lamb at this time of year. The stress of being chased can cause sheep to abort their lambs. This not only causes severe distress to the animals, but it also affects the livelihoods of our neighbours.
We ask all dog walkers to be aware that while it may appear that there are no livestock within the field in which you may be walking, it is possible that you may not be able to see them. Please ensure that you keep your dog under close control and within sight at all times when visiting the Forest.
Thank you for your co-operation.
