SPACE-2 is a company that specialises in short-term property and creative environments, delivering ‘property on demand’ to an ever-increasing number of clients ranging from film & TV production companies and event companies to brands and marketing agencies. They are experts at sourcing, promoting and managing a wide range of commercial property on behalf of their property partners.
Founded 10 years ago, SPACE-2 has already managed over 2600 film, TV and event productions across many locations and work with clients such as BT, BBC and Warner Bros. From their SPACE-2 Give programme, through to organising a company team day at the Heart of England Forest, they are a company who are always looking for innovative and engaging ways to make a difference.
Chief Executive Officer of SPACE-2, Mark Hughes-Webb, first heard about the Heart of England Forest when he attended an event last year, at which our Chairman, Jon Snow, gave a talk showcasing our charity and the various initiatives companies could get involved with. With a Midlands HQ in Kineton, Warwickshire based less than 40 minutes’ drive away from our Head Office, Mark couldn’t believe what was happening on his doorstep and was keen to learn more and get his company and staff involved.
The SPACE-2 day was one of the last corporate volunteer days of the tree planting season and their team came from far and wide to plant trees in the Heart of England Forest – even flying in from Northern Ireland!
We were delighted to welcome a new company and their team of 20 eager volunteers to the Forest, on what was one of the mildest and sunny days we have had this season. The team quickly set about digging holes and planting trees (albeit not without the obligatory ‘tree-mendous’ puns, they weren’t stumped for these!). After a very successful morning the team was surprised to find out that they had planted an amazing 500 trees before lunch!
After filling up on the Heart of England Forest resident chef – Cathy’s – famous lunch, with particular attention paid to the tasty cakes, the team headed back out into the field for one last tree planting session. The sun continued to shine as they went over their target of planting 1,000 trees.
Mark explained that: “As our team are based across the UK, it’s important that we bring them together regularly and we try to ensure that these experiences are as interactive and engaging as possible.
The opportunity to be outside, working collaboratively with colleagues in a rural landscape and genuinely getting our hands dirty was the ideal team building activity – competitive without a competition, educational without a presentation! Knowing that we are playing a tiny part in developing what will become a national asset is rewarding and the fact that our business may continue to be involved with the Heart of England Forest for decades to come is exciting!”
